Cindy (Kay) Kuffel: Biography
Cindy (Kay) Kuffel

Cindy has always loved photography. For as far back as she can remember she has always had a camera available. Photography is Cindy’s life; they record and tell a story. Photography enables anyone to look back and see how life has unfolded. To Cindy, photographs give you the opportunity to remember, to bring a tear to your eye or put a smile on your face.

She started taking pictures with her Brownie Camera while on vacation with her parents and sister as they traveled throughout the United States. Growing up her love was the old west, photographing deserted mining and ghost towns. Later in life, Cindy became engrossed in capturing her children on film as they grew. Cindy wanted to be able to pass onto them a story of their life so that they could eventually pass their story on to future generations.

Cindy has served as Co-President of the Arlington Camera Club and Coordinator for Special Events and Travel for the past couple of years. Cindy is also a photography judge for the Arlington Camera Club and the Chicago Area Camera Club Association, better known as CACCA.

She is a member of the Arlington-In-Pictures committee. All pictures for this committee are donated to the Arlington Heights Historical Museum for archival purposes. Cindy also photographs events for the Arlington Heights Mayor’s office.

Cindy has co-chaired the photography committee for the Chicago Festival Association’s McDonald’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and Durand Futures Golf Tournament. At present she a photographer for the Respiratory Health Association, photographing their three-day bike tour called COWALUNGA and their walk along Lake Michigan. Cindy enjoys photographing special events and corporate functions, along with taking photos at area Senior Communities.

For the past five years, Cindy has studied black and white photography and is currently learning to process and print film in a darkroom.

With Bill Kruser, the Co-President of the Arlington Camera Club, she enjoys photographing the back roads of the Midwest. Capturing old barns, trees and covered bridges is exciting for us. They are in the process of working on a book of one of the famous two lane U.S. Highways in the Midwest.

As you can see, Cindy enjoys her camera and seeing life through the lens. Look for Cindy and Bill at art shows in the northern Illinois area selling their “black and white” photos.
